The his­tor­i­cal mon­u­ment “Vladi­vos­tok Fortress” is a com­plex of defen­sive struc­tures erect­ed on the Muravy­ov-Amursky Penin­su­la and Russky Island in 1877–1917. It con­sists of coastal bat­ter­ies, forts, caponiers and oth­er objects. The com­plex is one of the most pow­er­ful sea­side fortress­es in the world. By the begin­ning of the Rus­­so-Japan­ese War in 1904, the fortress includ­ed 5 forts, 7 strong points, 20 land bat­ter­ies and 23 coastal bat­ter­ies.
