A six­­teen-kilo­­me­ter fjord beyond the Arc­tic Cir­cle itself. The bay is locat­ed in the zone of influ­ence of two oceans, so the area has an extreme­ly harsh cli­mate, and the land is cov­ered with per­mafrost, which does not make it any less pic­turesque. There is also a port and town of the same name (found­ed in 1946). Today the vil­lage of Egvekinot is a ski slope, cheap, even by the stan­dards of the main­land, cafes, crowd­ed streets and a tidy hous­ing stock. Pop­u­la­tion — 3000 peo­ple.
