Built in St. Peters­burg by order of the Kam­chat­ka admin­is­tra­tion. Ini­tial­ly, the ship served to trans­port pas­sen­gers and was called “Admi­ral Zavoiko”. In 1923, she was renamed “Red Pen­nant” and trans­ferred to the class of patrol ships. Dur­ing the Great Patri­ot­ic War, “Red Vym­pel” served sub­ma­rine moor­ings, laid sub­ma­rine cables and took part in bat­tles, and after the war it was engaged in mine clear­ance. In 1958, the ship was turned into a muse­um.
