Inside, in the funer­al hall, there is a glass sar­coph­a­gus with the body of V.I. Lenin. The exist­ing mau­soleum build­ing is the third in a row. It was built accord­ing to the design of the famous Russ­ian and Sovi­et archi­tect A.V. Shchu­sev in 1929–1930. Gran­ite with mar­ble, labradorite and por­phyry trim was used to clad the rein­forced con­crete build­ing, which is shaped like Baby­lon­ian zig­gu­rat tem­ples. The place has ceased to be a cult place, but due to lim­it­ed open­ing hours, queues form here, just like in Sovi­et times.
