One sin­gle moun­tain range cross­es this region between the Caspi­an and Aral Seas and the Ural Riv­er. This is the Muga­jars. Start­ing from Ustyurt, they run north­west to the Ural Moun­tains, from which they are still sep­a­rat­ed by a sig­nif­i­cant steppe space. The cen­ter of these moun­tains, clos­er to Ustyurt, is called Zhal­­gan-tau. The spur, the most promi­nent in the steppe, as an out­post, is Karatau, and their peak is called Airak­ty. The images were made in the east­ern and south­east­ern sec­tors of the Cre­ta­ceous deposits locat­ed on the east­ern side of the table-like lime­stone moun­tain Airak­ty. Domes­tic ani­mals are depict­ed on the stones: a camel, a horse, a moun­tain goat, rid­ers and styl­ized images reflect­ing the reli­gious world­view. The absolute height of the moun­tain reach­es 148 meters.
