Dur­ing the years of Ottoman rule, Azim’s palace was built in Dam­as­cus and dec­o­rat­ed with intri­cate, expen­sive dec­o­ra­tive ele­ments. The area of the archi­tec­tur­al com­plex is 6400 m². It includes recep­tion rooms, util­i­ty rooms, a harem, a bath­house. Lime­stone, mar­ble, basalt were used for con­struc­tion. The walls are dec­o­rat­ed with carved wood­en pan­els, the ceil­ings are paint­ed with bright col­ors. In the court­yard there is a gar­den with beau­ti­ful paths, flower beds, foun­tains and pavil­ions.
