Against the back­drop of pic­turesque nature, a moun­tain range, the ruins of an ancient city, which still belonged to the Hem­ma­did dynasty, are locat­ed. It was erect­ed for defen­sive pur­pos­es and is an exam­ple of how such Mus­lim cities of for­ti­fi­ca­tion used to be built. The Hem­ma­didy Berber dynasty began to exist here. It is named after the founder of this city, whose father found­ed Algiers him­self.
