The unfin­ished bridge was part of a larg­er infra­struc­ture project that was con­ceived in the late 1960s. Con­struc­tion began in the ear­ly 1970s but ceased with­out any clear expla­na­tion in 1977. Its sud­den end has giv­en rise to urban leg­ends that attempt to explain why con­struc­tion stopped so abrupt­ly. Over the years, there have been numer­ous attempts to fin­ish the bridge, but all have failed for one rea­son or anoth­er. For now, the bridge will remain as it is, and will con­tin­ue to be used as a park­ing lot, a back­drop for TV shows and fash­ion shoots.
