Yaropo­lets, although quite far from Moscow, is def­i­nite­ly worth a vis­it. The unusu­al archi­tec­ture of the Gon­charov estate, for exam­ple, the chess tur­rets at the entrance, will attract your atten­tion. You can’t get inside the build­ing, but you can walk around the ter­ri­to­ry of the place asso­ci­at­ed with Pushkin. Fur­ther, walk­ing along the Lama Riv­er, you can admire the spill­way and the first hydro­elec­tric pow­er sta­tion in the region. True, it did not sur­vive in its orig­i­nal form and was recre­at­ed in its image and like­ness.
