The Indus Riv­er got its name from the ancient San­scrit lan­guage word “Sind­hu,” and the gorge is between 15,000 and 17,000 feet deep in the Nan­ga Par­bat area. The Indus Riv­er is a major Asian riv­er that pass­es through this pic­turesque gorge. The riv­er pass­es by the world’s ninth high­est moun­tain, the Nagan Par­bat. The Nagan Par­bat is cov­ered with glac­i­ers, so it offers a par­tic­u­lar­ly spec­tac­u­lar view. The area was home to sev­er­al ear­ly civ­i­liza­tions, includ­ing the Indus Val­ley Civ­i­liza­tion.
