On the lee­ward, more often east­ern slopes and ridges, pow­er­ful snow cor­nices hang. Dur­ing the win­ter months, there is a high risk of avalanch­es. Sum­mer is rel­a­tive­ly warm in the val­leys, cool in the moun­tains. The aver­age air tem­per­a­ture in July is +12 °C. At the begin­ning and end of sum­mer there are frosts, snow falls in the moun­tains. It often rains, caus­ing floods on the rivers.
