The Jelling bur­ial mounds and one of the runic stones are strik­ing exam­ples of pagan Nordic cul­ture, while the oth­er runic stone and the church illus­trate the Chris­tian­iza­tion of the Dan­ish peo­ple towards the mid­dle of the 10th cen­tu­ry.
