Designed by David Bar­ber and Bill Burgess, The Julie Pen­rose foun­tain at Amer­i­ca The Beau­ti­ful park is an open loop of sil­very-col­ored steel pan­els out­fit­ted with 366 water jets that line the inte­ri­or con­tours of the form. It sits on a hid­den turntable so that it’s able to rotate every fif­teen min­utes. The foun­tain rep­re­sents the life-giv­ing move­ment of water between the atmos­phere and the earth. Com­plet­ed in 2007, the piece weighs 24 tons and is the size of a four-storey build­ing.
