The largest and deep­est lake in the North Cau­ca­sus, locat­ed on the bor­der of the Vede­no region of the Chechen Repub­lic and the Bot­likh region of Dages­tan, on the south­ern slope of the Andean ridge. It is locat­ed at an alti­tude of 1854 meters above sea lev­el, the area of ​​the lake is 2.4 km², the max­i­mum depth is 74 meters. The water tem­per­a­ture in the lake does not rise above 17 degrees.

For its extra­or­di­nary beau­ty, res­i­dents of Chech­nya call the lake the “Pearl of the Cau­ca­sus.” One of the attrac­tions of the reser­voir is the Eise­nam trout; list­ed in the Red Book of Rus­sia.

Lake Kezenoy-Am is a dam lake, which means that it arose as a result of block­ing the beds of moun­tain rivers. The val­ley of the small rivers Khar­sum and Kauha was blocked after the col­lapse, and this led to the for­ma­tion of a reser­voir. Lake Kezenoy-Am has no drainage on the sur­face; the water leaves through the sur­round­ing lime­stone rocks.
