A pre­his­toric site near Lake Turkana, the low­er val­ley of the Omo is renowned the world over. The dis­cov­ery of many fos­sils there, espe­cial­ly Homo gra­cilis, has been of fun­da­men­tal impor­tance in the study of human evo­lu­tion.
