Locat­ed in the south­east­ern part of Mopti’s admin­is­tra­tive cen­ter, the mar­ket plays a vital role in the city’s dai­ly life. The space is orga­nized over two lev­els: the low­er one focus­es on sell­ing food products—fruits, veg­eta­bles, fish, meat, salt—while the upper hosts craft­work, tex­tiles, amulets, jew­el­ry, paint­ings, and house­hold items. Nar­row sur­round­ing streets are filled with bel­la­phone music, the aro­ma of street food, and bustling crowds. The site serves an impor­tant cul­tur­al and social func­tion, espe­cial­ly for local arti­sans and farm­ers.
