The bronze fig­ure of Peter I faces the Vol­ga. On the gran­ite pedestal under the relief image of the state emblem of Rus­sia is the inscrip­tion “Peter the Great”. The mon­u­ment was cre­at­ed by the sculp­tor A. D. Kovalchuk and the archi­tect A. I. Fedorchenko. The artis­tic solu­tion of the image of Peter I is tra­di­tion­al and goes back to the clas­sic work of M. M. Antokol­sky. Peter is depict­ed walk­ing ener­get­i­cal­ly, with a cane in his slight­ly set right hand, with a sword, in a Pre­o­brazhen­sky uni­form with a rib­bon and insignia of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called.
