The his­toric mosque, built in the 17th cen­tu­ry, retains the archi­tec­ture of the Sudanese style. The com­plex of struc­tures was built of mud brick, per­fect­ly pre­served even in the local rainy, humid cli­mate. Every day the mosque is vis­it­ed by tourists and locals, it was and remains the most sig­nif­i­cant build­ing for the spir­i­tu­al life of Mus­lims.
