The mud vol­cano on Sakhalin, sim­i­lar to the sur­face of the Moon, is a kind of call­ing card of the island. In the 20th cen­tu­ry, strong erup­tions were record­ed here — the height of emis­sions dur­ing explo­sions reached 50 meters. Now the craters are just qui­et­ly gur­gling. The vol­cano is a giant mud field with many craters. The land­scapes are fan­tas­tic! Take a clos­er look at the ground next to the vol­cano — here you can find pyrite crys­tals; they are espe­cial­ly notice­able in the sun.
