Famous for its high den­si­ty of ele­phants and mas­sive old baobab trees, Tarangire Nation­al Park is a lit­tle safari gem that attracts large con­cen­tra­tions of wildlife along the Tarangire Riv­er dur­ing the dry sea­son.
Tarangire also has leop­ards, wild dogs, hye­nas, chee­tahs, zebras, giraffes, buf­fa­lo and a range of ante­lope and small­er species such as hon­ey bad­ger and cara­cals. Arid coun­try spe­cial­ist ante­lope such as the fringe-eared oryx and gerenuk are also reg­u­lar­ly spot­ted. A bird count in excess of 550 species keeps the bird­watch­ers hap­py.

Less fre­quent­ly vis­it­ed than the near­by but more renowned Serengeti and Ngoro­goro, Tarangire is an excel­lent choice for a more pri­vate high sea­son safari and for those arid habi­tat spe­cial­ist species. Com­bine the 3 for more species and habi­tat diver­si­ty.
