The longest cave in Sakhalin deserves atten­tion and a vis­it. It’s not dif­fi­cult to find – the entrance is locat­ed on Mount Vai­da at an alti­tude of 700 meters. The cave itself is mul­ti-tiered, its halls are “dec­o­rat­ed” with sta­lac­tites and sta­lag­mites. Droplets of water have cre­at­ed bizarre sculp­tures for many thou­sands of years. Thus, on the mid­dle tier, the fused for­ma­tions resem­ble a giant cake. The cave has many branch­es, nar­row pas­sages, wells — it is not rec­om­mend­ed for unpre­pared tourists to climb here. The best time to vis­it is August and Sep­tem­ber. In win­ter, the entrance to the cave is often blocked with snow.
